Michael Procy Obituary, Death – Remembering a Life Lost in Tragic Frenchtown Township Crash

The Monroe County community is mourning the loss of Michael Procy, a 75-year-old Monroe resident, whose life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Frenchtown Township. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the heartbreaking news, reporting that the fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. in the 3100 block of Fourth Street, just west of Bronston Street.

According to investigators, Procy was driving his Ford F-150 pickup truck when, for reasons still under review, his vehicle suddenly veered off the roadway. In the moments that followed, the truck struck several vehicles and roadside posts before re-entering the roadway. Tragically, the vehicle drifted off course again, ultimately colliding with a tree.

The force of the crash was devastating. Despite wearing his seatbelt, Procy was ejected from the truck. Deputies noted that multiple airbags had deployed, but the impact proved fatal. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Procy was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. Thankfully, no other individuals were injured during the incident.

After the collision with the tree, the truck continued to travel, spinning counterclockwise before coming to rest on private property located on the north side of Fourth Street, not far from the initial crash site. Authorities have not yet identified the underlying cause of the accident, though they are actively investigating whether medical complications, distraction, or other factors may have played a role. At this time, there is no confirmation of alcohol involvement.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and will include a full crash reconstruction, mechanical inspections, and review of environmental conditions to better understand what led to the accident. Officials are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Traffic Services Division at 734-240-7548. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or through their website at www.1800speakup.org.

For family, friends, and neighbors, the news of Procy’s sudden death has been a heavy blow. Known in the Monroe community for his kindness and presence, Michael’s loss has left a deep void among those who knew him best. Residents described the crash as shocking, especially given the normally quiet nature of the roadway where it took place.

As loved ones grieve, the sheriff’s office has extended its condolences to Procy’s family, acknowledging the profound pain caused by such an unexpected tragedy. For many in the community, the crash serves as a sobering reminder of life’s fragility and the unpredictable nature of roadway incidents—even when important safety measures such as seatbelts and airbags are in use.

In remembering Michael Procy, family and friends hold tightly to the memories, love, and moments they shared with him throughout the years. His passing is not only a loss to his immediate loved ones but to the broader Monroe community, which will remember him with respect and sorrow.
