Mobile County, Ala. – The Mobile County community is grieving the tragic death of 46-year-old Amy Bosarge, who lost her life in a fatal hit-and-run over the weekend. Authorities confirmed Monday that deputies have apprehended a suspect in connection with the deadly incident.
According to the Bayou La Batre Police Department, officers were dispatched late Saturday evening to a residence at 8661 Rollie Tillman Road after receiving a call from a female caller, believed to have been Bosarge herself. Reports indicate that both Bosarge and a man were at the residence before leaving the location.
As officers began searching the area, they made a devastating discovery. Just a short distance from the residence, they found a woman lying in the roadway with severe injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The victim was later identified as Amy Bosarge, a resident of the address from which the call originated. Despite efforts, Bosarge was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) launched an investigation immediately, working to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision. Over the course of the investigation, witness accounts and evidence helped investigators identify a suspect.
By Monday morning, deputies confirmed the arrest of 39-year-old Arthur Kirkland, who has been charged with manslaughter in connection to Bosarge’s death. Officials have not released further details about the nature of his involvement, but emphasized that the case remains active as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview additional witnesses.
