ST. LOUIS — Man Charged With First-Degree Murder Following Deadly Dispute During Football Watch Party

A St. Louis man is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say he fatally shot his roommate during an argument at a football watch party.

According to police, Marvin Byrd, 54, has been charged with first-degree murder among other offenses following the incident, which escalated from a disagreement at a social gathering. Law enforcement officials say the dispute occurred inside the residence where Byrd and the victim lived, with several witnesses present at the time.

The St. Louis Police Department reported that the altercation took place during a football watch party, a time meant for friends to gather and enjoy the game, which tragically turned deadly. Details from the investigation indicate that the argument between Byrd and his roommate escalated quickly into violence, resulting in the victim being shot. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but the victim succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.
