It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Carmen Jimenez-Pride, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, a cherished member of our community and a luminary in the fields of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and Play Therapy. Carmen’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her remarkable contributions and the countless lives she touched will leave an enduring legacy.
Carmen was widely respected not only for her expertise but also for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her clients, students, and colleagues. As an IFS Lead Trainer, she helped countless mental health professionals deepen their understanding and application of Internal Family Systems therapy, guiding them to provide more empathetic and effective care. Her work in Play Therapy further exemplified her commitment to healing, particularly for children navigating complex emotional experiences.
Those fortunate enough to work with Carmen describe her as brilliant, inspiring, and deeply human—a professional who combined her extensive knowledge with an innate ability to connect with others on a personal level. She had a unique gift for creating safe spaces for learning and growth, whether in the therapy room, the classroom, or during her many workshops and trainings.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carmen was known for her generosity of spirit. She celebrated the strengths of others, encouraged self-discovery, and mentored countless therapists who now carry forward the lessons she imparted. Her influence will continue to resonate in the work of those she trained, as well as in the lives of the clients and families she supported throughout her career.
At this time, Carmen’s family has requested privacy as they navigate this incredibly difficult period. We honor their wishes and ask the community to respect their space while remembering the profound impact Carmen had on all of us.
While Carmen Jimenez-Pride’s presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of compassion, healing, and dedication to the field of therapy will continue to inspire. We encourage those who knew her—professionally and personally—to carry forward her spirit of empathy, integrity, and unwavering commitment to helping others heal.
