On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the Pine Hill Police Department (PHPD) responded to a shooting within the Pine Hill city limits that would tragically alter the lives of multiple families. The victim, 33-year-old Quatel Blount, was initially transported to Grove Hill Hospital for treatment before being airlifted to USA Hospital in Mobile due to the severity of his injuries.
The suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile, sustained a head injury after being struck with a bottle during the incident. He was taken to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis for treatment. After receiving medical care and being discharged, the juvenile was arrested, transported to the Wilcox County Jail, and initially charged with Attempted Murder.
Update – September 8, 2025:
Sadly, Quatel Blount succumbed to his injuries at USA Hospital. Following his passing, the juvenile suspect’s charges were upgraded to Murder. He remains incarcerated at the Wilcox County Jail and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Authorities and emergency personnel worked tirelessly in response to this incident. PHPD extends gratitude to E-911 dispatchers, Grove Hill Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, Marengo County Sheriff’s Office, Demopolis Police Department, and the medical staff at Grove Hill and Whitfield Regional hospitals for their swift and professional response. The District Attorney’s Office and all witnesses who provided valuable information were also critical in the ongoing investigation.
