HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. — The Village of Haverstraw is reeling after a fatal shooting claimed the life of a young resident Tuesday evening. The Haverstraw Police Department confirmed that 22-year-old Muhssia King, of Haverstraw, was killed in a targeted attack while seated inside his vehicle.
According to police, the shooting took place on Clove Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. on September 9, 2025. Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple gunshots ring out, sending nearby residents into panic. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered King slumped in the driver’s seat of his car. Investigators say several rounds had been fired into the vehicle, striking him multiple times.
Despite efforts from emergency responders, King was pronounced dead at the scene. The roadway was quickly secured as detectives and crime scene technicians began processing evidence late into the night.
At this stage of the investigation, police have not disclosed the number of suspects involved or a possible motive. Authorities are exploring all avenues, including potential connections to personal disputes, gang-related activity, or other forms of targeted violence.
