Colorado Springs Police Identify Victim in Rampart Range Road Fatal Crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Authorities have identified the man killed in a devastating single-vehicle rollover crash on Rampart Range Road earlier this month. The victim has been named as 32-year-old Samuel Marsh, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The tragic accident occurred shortly after midnight on September 2, when officers were dispatched to the area around 12:20 a.m. following multiple reports of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, police found a vehicle that had veered off the roadway before rolling over several times.

Samuel Marsh was pronounced dead at the scene, despite emergency responders’ swift arrival. His death adds to a growing number of traffic fatalities in the city this year, becoming the 40th roadway-related death in Colorado Springs in 2025.

Authorities confirmed that Marsh was not alone at the time of the accident. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, a passenger in the vehicle managed to escape the wreckage and flag down a passing motorist for assistance. That individual later received medical attention, though their injuries have not been described as life-threatening.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Detectives are reviewing evidence from the scene, including skid marks, vehicle condition, and roadway factors. Investigators have not yet stated whether speed, impairment, or mechanical failure may have contributed to the deadly incident.

The tragedy has sparked renewed calls for caution on Rampart Range Road, a route known for its sharp curves and challenging driving conditions, particularly at night. Officials continue to stress the importance of safe driving practices to prevent further loss of life.

Community members have expressed condolences for Marsh’s family, with many reflecting on the toll traffic deaths have taken on the region in recent months.

Police have urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Team.

As investigators work to piece together the circumstances, authorities are reminding drivers to stay vigilant, avoid distractions, and exercise caution on the city’s roads.
