ACTIVE INVESTIGATIONS: HCPD Probes Two Separate Overnight Shootings in Horry County

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — The Horry County Police Department (HCPD) has launched two separate investigations after back-to-back shootings were reported overnight in different areas of unincorporated Horry County. Authorities emphasized that while both incidents remain active investigations, they are believed to be unrelated and isolated.

The first shooting took place on Wednesday evening, September 10, at approximately 7:40 p.m. in the Myrtle Beach area near Rexford Court. According to police, one individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and sought help by arriving at a nearby fire station. Emergency Medical Services personnel quickly treated the victim and transported them to a local hospital for further care.

Just hours later, in the early morning of Thursday, September 11, around 4:24 a.m., police were called to the Gateway Drive area in Loris following another shooting. In this case, two individuals were injured. Both were taken to an area hospital, with authorities noting that one victim is currently listed in critical condition while the other is being treated for less severe injuries.

At this time, detectives have not released information regarding suspects or possible motives in either case. However, investigators stressed that the incidents do not appear to be connected and that there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the wider community.

The HCPD continues to actively gather evidence, interview witnesses, and piece together the timeline of events in both investigations.

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist detectives. Community members can call the HCPD tip line at 843-248-1520 or send information via email to crimetips@horrycountysc.gov.

Police officials reiterated that even small details could prove vital in helping solve these cases, bring accountability, and prevent further violence in the community.
