Baltimore, MD (September 10, 2025) – Baltimore Police have announced the arrest of 25-year-old Shuaib Franklin of Baltimore in connection with a Western District shooting that left a 49-year-old man critically injured on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators have charged Franklin with attempted first-degree murder following the shooting of the victim in the 500 block of Islamic Way. According to officials, officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 3:09 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
When officers arrived, they discovered the 49-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains listed in critical condition.
A person of interest was immediately detained at the scene as detectives began their investigation. That individual was later identified as Franklin, who was subsequently placed under arrest. Police reported that Franklin was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been formally charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Due to the life-threatening nature of the victim’s injuries, Homicide detectives assumed control of the investigation shortly after the incident. Detectives are continuing to review evidence and interview witnesses as they work to establish a clear motive in the case.
