The passing of Andrew Carey “Andy” Ledford on September 10, 2025, at the age of 58, has brought deep sorrow to all who knew him. Family, friends, colleagues, and the many lives he touched across Georgia and beyond are mourning the loss of a man remembered for his integrity, devotion, and kindness.
Born in 1967 in Georgia, Andy grew into a life shaped by service and guided by a steady commitment to others. His professional journey was dedicated to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), where he gave decades of loyal service. Rising to the role of Firearms Coordinator, Andy was known not only for his expertise but also for the patience and professionalism with which he trained and guided agents. His colleagues describe him as someone who led by example—firm in standards yet generous in spirit.
Though his work in law enforcement earned him respect across the state, Andy’s greatest devotion was always to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy, his children, Ethan and Addison, and his sister, Haley, each of whom he cherished deeply. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda, whose values he carried forward in his own life, honoring her memory in the way he lived and led.
Andy’s commitment to service extended well beyond his career. He invested his time in 4-H coaching, encouraging and mentoring youth with the same dedication he showed in his professional life. His sense of fun and generosity of spirit also shone through his involvement with the Star Wars 501st Legion, where he brought smiles to children in hospitals by donning costumes and bringing beloved characters to life. These moments of joy, offered freely to others, reflected his belief in making the world brighter in both big and small ways.
To those who knew him, Andy was not only a dedicated public servant but also a husband, father, brother, mentor, and friend. His passing leaves a profound gap, one felt not just in the professional circles of the GBI but also in his community, where his presence was a steady source of support and inspiration.
As family, friends, and colleagues gather to honor his life, they remember a man who embodied integrity, service, and love. His legacy lives on in his children, in the agents he trained, in the young people he coached, and in the countless lives he touched with his kindness.
Sincere condolences are extended to Cindy, Ethan, Addison, Haley, and all who mourn Andy’s passing. May his memory serve as a reminder of the impact one life, lived with devotion and generosity, can have on so many.
