BEAUMONT, Texas — A Sunday morning call for a welfare check led Beaumont Police officers to a grim discovery: the body of 27-year-old Vinnie Sang Nguyen, who is believed to have been struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 7, 2025, officers were dispatched after a citizen reported finding Nguyen in the grassy median of U.S. Highway 69 near Texas State Highway 347. When authorities arrived, they determined the Beaumont resident appeared to be the victim of a traffic-related incident.
Victim Identified
The victim has since been officially identified as Vinnie Sang Nguyen, a Beaumont resident described by authorities as transient. According to investigators, Nguyen was last confirmed alive on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at about 7:50 p.m., when he was released from the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
Investigation Underway
Beaumont Police Department’s Traffic Investigators responded to the scene and immediately launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Nguyen’s death. Detectives are examining physical evidence, reviewing area surveillance footage, and working to trace Nguyen’s movements between his release from custody and the time his body was discovered.
While officials have not yet confirmed how long Nguyen may have been in the median or the exact time of the collision, early findings strongly suggest a hit-and-run driver is responsible.
Appeal for Public Assistance
As the investigation continues, Beaumont Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in identifying the vehicle or driver involved.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the Beaumont Police Department Traffic Unit at (409) 980-7271. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477) or via the P3 Tips smartphone app. Those providing tips may be eligible for a cash reward.
Community Impact
The discovery has left many in Beaumont troubled, particularly given the violent and sudden nature of Nguyen’s death. Hit-and-run incidents often leave families with more questions than answers, compounding the grief of losing a loved one without closure.
Police officials have expressed determination to hold the responsible party accountable. “Every life matters, and we will continue to work tirelessly until we find out what happened and who is responsible,” a spokesperson for the Beaumont Police Department said.
Ongoing Case
The case remains active, and investigators say they will continue piecing together a timeline of Nguyen’s final days. Authorities emphasize that even small details from the public — such as reports of damaged vehicles or suspicious activity along Highway 69 — could prove crucial in advancing the case.
For now, the Beaumont community waits for answers as police work to uncover the truth behind the death of Vinnie Sang Nguyen.
