It is with profound sadness and deep regret that the department announces the passing of Active Firefighter Joseph M. Herman, Ladder Company 111, who tragically passed away off duty on Sunday, August 31, 2025. FF Herman faithfully served our department and community for 10 dedicated years, earning the respect, admiration, and friendship of colleagues, residents, and all who knew him.
Throughout his tenure, Joseph Herman exemplified the values of courage, dedication, and selflessness inherent in the firefighting profession. Known for his professionalism, warmth, and willingness to go above and beyond in service to others, he touched countless lives both on and off duty. His commitment to protecting and serving the community was unwavering, and his positive impact on the department will be felt for years to come.
The loss of FF Herman has left a profound void in the hearts of his fellow firefighters, friends, and the broader community.
