Shooting in Lehigh Acres Leaves Teen Injured

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that left a young man injured after gunfire erupted near a busy intersection in Lehigh Acres.

At approximately 3:08 p.m. on September 4, 2025, Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue crews were dispatched to the intersection of Lee Boulevard and Gunnery Road following reports of a vehicle being shot at multiple times.

The Incident

According to initial reports, the victim—an 18 to 19-year-old male—was inside a vehicle when it was targeted by gunfire. During the incident, he was struck in the leg. Despite his injury, the victim managed to drive to a home located in the 1900 block of Venice Avenue North, where emergency personnel met him and began providing care.

He was later transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center for further treatment. At this time, his exact condition has not been released.

Road Closures and Evidence

The shooting briefly disrupted traffic along one of Lehigh Acres’ busiest corridors. Eastbound lanes of Lee Boulevard were closed for about 25 minutes while deputies processed the scene. Witnesses reported seeing multiple shell casings scattered across the travel lanes, underscoring the violent nature of the incident. Traffic was later reopened after evidence collection was completed.

Not a Random Act

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the incident was not random. Investigators say both the suspect and victim were known to each other, easing concerns of a broader public safety threat.

The case has since been turned over to the LCSO Violent Crimes Unit, which is actively investigating. Detectives are working to establish a clearer timeline of events, determine a motive, and identify any additional parties who may have been involved.

Community Response

Although the investigation remains ongoing, residents in the area expressed concern about the proximity of the shooting to a major intersection. “This is one of the busiest roads in Lehigh,” one community member said. “It’s scary to think something like this can happen in broad daylight.”

Ongoing Investigation

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released any suspect information or made any arrests in connection with the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact LCSO or submit tips anonymously through Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

For now, the community waits for answers as investigators work to piece together the events that led to Thursday’s violent outburst.
