BREAKING: Fatal Crash Investigation Closes 4400 Block of North Big Spring Street in Midland

MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Police Department (MPD) has confirmed that a serious traffic collision has resulted in a fatality and prompted the closure of a major roadway in the city Thursday evening.

At this time, officers have closed the 4400 block of North Big Spring Street, located just south of Loop 250, in both directions as they conduct a comprehensive crash investigation. Authorities said the closure will remain in place for several hours while investigators process the scene, gather evidence, and work to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly crash.

Details about the number of vehicles involved, the identity of the deceased, or whether additional injuries occurred have not yet been released. MPD has stated that more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Emergency crews remain on site, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area entirely and seek alternate routes. The closure has already created traffic congestion in the surrounding neighborhoods and on nearby feeder roads to Loop 250.

“Our priority right now is ensuring a thorough investigation and the safety of all those on scene,” an MPD spokesperson said.

The fatal crash marks another tragedy on Midland roadways and serves as a stark reminder of the dangers drivers face each day. Police are urging drivers to remain alert, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution, especially in high-traffic areas.

The identity of the victim will be released once next of kin have been notified.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information is encouraged to contact the Midland Police Department’s Traffic Division.
