NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred shortly after midnight in the 8600 block of Airport Freeway, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured.
According to officials, the deceased victim has been identified as a 21-year-old woman from Dallas. Her name will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once her family has been notified. A 23-year-old man, also from Dallas, was transported to a nearby hospital following the shooting. Authorities say he is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two North Richland Hills police officers were working off duty in the area when the gunfire erupted. Investigators say one of the officers exchanged fire with a suspect, while the second officer applied a tourniquet to the male victim’s wounds before paramedics arrived — a critical step that likely prevented further blood loss.
Authorities have confirmed that three 18-year-old men are now in custody in connection with the case. Their names and booking photographs will not be released until they have appeared before a judge.
Detectives have also recovered what they believe to be the murder weapon. Preliminary findings suggest that the violence stemmed from an altercation between multiple individuals that escalated into gunfire. The exact circumstances leading to the dispute remain under investigation.
The North Richland Hills Police Department continues to work closely with detectives and crime scene investigators to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and piece together the chain of events that led to this tragedy.
Community members expressed both sadness and concern over the violence, while officials commended the quick actions of the off-duty officers who were able to intervene and render lifesaving aid.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the shooting to contact the North Richland Hills Police Department as the investigation remains ongoing.
