On September 4, 2001, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a residence on Kings Warf Place in the Wakefield subdivision of Waldorf following a report of a shooting.
When law enforcement arrived, they discovered a young woman inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts, she could not be saved. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Karen Sabrina Wills, a beloved resident of Waldorf.
Karen’s sudden and violent death devastated her family, friends, and community. At just 20 years old, she had her entire future ahead of her. She worked as a sales associate at Marshalls, carried ambitions of becoming a model, and dreamed of one day opening her own daycare. Known as a kindhearted daughter and a loyal friend, Karen left an unforgettable mark on those who loved her.

For more than two decades, Karen’s murder has remained unsolved. Detectives have tirelessly worked to piece together the events of that tragic night, following every lead and re-examining evidence with the hope of bringing answers to Karen’s family.
