DALLAS, Texas — A young man’s life was cut short early Sunday morning in a fatal shooting that has left family members grieving and police urgently searching for a suspect. Eiver Valecillos, 27, was discovered fatally wounded just after 1:10 a.m. in the 7500 block of Chaucer Place, allegedly shot by 28-year-old Victor Reyes-Valbuena Najera, who is believed to have carried out the attack before fleeing the area. Medics arrived quickly but were unable to save Valecillos.
Detectives have since issued a murder warrant for Najera, and authorities continue to pursue leads to locate him. The Dallas Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward, either directly to the Homicide Unit or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
“This is a senseless act of violence that took the life of a young man,” a Dallas Police spokesperson said. “We are committed to finding the person responsible and holding them accountable. We encourage anyone with information—no matter how small it may seem—to come forward.”
The loss of Valecillos has sent shockwaves through his community and devastated those who knew him best. Friends and family describe him as a kind-hearted individual with a bright future, now tragically cut short. Neighbors in the Chaucer Place area said the incident has left them shaken, underscoring ongoing concerns about gun violence in residential neighborhoods.
Authorities have not released further details about a potential motive, though investigators continue to interview witnesses and review evidence collected from the scene.
As the manhunt for Najera continues, officials are asking anyone with knowledge of his movements to contact Dallas Police Department Homicide Detectives at (214) 671-3661 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (214) 373-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
For Valecillos’ loved ones, the shooting represents an unimaginable and sudden loss. The Dallas Police Department extended condolences to his family as they continue working toward justice.
“This family is grieving the loss of someone they loved deeply,” the spokesperson added. “We will not stop until the suspect is in custody.”
