Dora Man Killed in Fatal ATV Crash in Howell County

HOWELL COUNTY, Mo. (September 5, 2025) – Tragedy struck in Howell County on Thursday afternoon when a 30-year-old man from Dora was killed in an ATV crash, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

The fatal incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. on September 4 along County Road 7590, about two miles south of CC Highway. Investigators say the man was operating a Can-Am Outlander 1000R four-wheeler, traveling southbound, when he ran off the right side of the road. The ATV struck an embankment, causing the rider to be ejected.

According to the crash report, the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Emergency responders transported him to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, where he was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. by Dr. Pogue.

The ATV was deemed a total loss and was removed from the scene by Hughes Towing at the request of authorities.

This crash marks the 25th fatality in MSHP Troop G’s region in 2025, compared to 15 at the same point last year — a sobering statistic highlighting the increase in deadly incidents across the area.

The crash was investigated by Trooper J.Q. Hummel, with assistance from Corporal T.M. Broyles.

Authorities are reminding ATV riders of the importance of safety precautions, particularly the use of helmets, which significantly reduce the risk of fatal injuries in the event of a crash.

The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
