Garden City, Kan. — September 5, 2025, 10:10 AM — The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early Friday morning along U.S. Highway 50.
At approximately 7:00 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the 4500 block of U.S. Highway 50 near North Airlinks Drive in Garden City. An alternate reported location places the collision near milepost 71 of the highway.
The Crash
According to preliminary reports, a male pedestrian was walking north on U.S. Highway 50 when he was struck by a westbound passenger vehicle. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but tragically, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

The Critical Highway Accident Response Team (CHART) of the Kansas Highway Patrol was immediately activated and responded to assist with the investigation.
