Galloway Township, NJ (September 11, 2025) – Authorities in Galloway Township are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon on Jimmie Leeds Road, prompting a precautionary lockdown at nearby Stockton University.
According to officials, the incident happened just before 1 p.m. in the area of West Jimmie Leeds Road near Redwood Avenue. Police confirmed that one individual was injured during the shooting and was quickly transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus in Atlantic City for treatment. The victim’s condition has not yet been released.
Due to the close proximity of the shooting to Stockton University, the school was placed on lockdown as a safety measure. University officials later confirmed that the incident did not occur on campus and that there was no direct threat to students, staff, or faculty. The lockdown has since been lifted, though the university has urged the community to remain alert and follow official updates.
Investigators believe that the suspect fled the area in a vehicle shortly after the shooting. At this time, no arrests have been made, and the motive for the incident remains unclear. Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect or vehicle involved.
