MILWAUKEE, Wis., September 6, 2025 — Marquette University is in mourning following a devastating crash Friday evening that claimed the lives of two students and left several others injured.
The university confirmed that Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud, both members of the Marquette men’s lacrosse team, were killed in the crash. The announcement was made in a statement by Marquette University President Dr. Kimo Ah Yun, who praised the students’ achievements on and off the field.
Promising Young Lives Cut Short
“Noah and Scott were strong students, being named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in their first year at Marquette for maintaining a 3.0 grade point average,” Dr. Ah Yun wrote. “Noah and Scott’s lives were taken too soon and we share in the heartbreak of their teammates, coaches, and those who knew them personally.”
Both young men were remembered as standout student-athletes who embodied the values of Marquette: discipline, excellence, and service. Their passing has left an immeasurable void in the campus community.
Campus Gathers in Prayer and Grief
In response to the tragedy, Marquette held a Mass at 1 p.m. Saturday, giving students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to come together in prayer and reflection. The service was filled with grief and solidarity as classmates and teammates shared memories of the two young men.
“Please keep Noah and Scott’s parents, siblings, and families, and the Marquette Athletics and college communities in your prayers,” Dr. Ah Yun’s statement continued.
Community Reaction
Messages of condolence have poured in from across Milwaukee and the wider collegiate sports community. Teammates described Noah and Scott as dedicated athletes, supportive friends, and role models for younger players. Coaches expressed pride in the legacies they leave behind, both academically and athletically.
The Marquette men’s lacrosse program, part of the BIG EAST Conference, is now grappling with an unimaginable loss as they prepare to honor the memories of their fallen teammates.
