MIAMI GARDENS, Fla – Authorities have identified the 71-year-old woman who was tragically killed in Miami Gardens after being attacked by one or possibly multiple dogs as Doreen Broadbelt, leaving her family and community in shock and mourning.
According to the Miami Gardens Police Department, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive woman at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Monday in the area of Northwest 196th Terrace and 14th Court, near Hard Rock Stadium. Upon arrival, officials found Broadbelt lying on the ground next to a trailer, suffering from apparent dog bite injuries. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Family members described Broadbelt as a dedicated and hardworking woman, often walking to her job at Walmart when the attack occurred. Her daughter, Lateisha Wilkinson, shared that her mother had long expressed concerns about the neighborhood dogs, which frequently harassed and intimidated her. “They always attacking her. She even got stick, I even got her a stick,” Wilkinson said, recalling the daily challenges her mother faced while walking in the area.
