Armuchee Community Mourns 15-Year-Old Football Player Killed in Head-On Collision

ARMUCHEE, Ga. — Doctors at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center fought tirelessly through Tuesday night to save 15-year-old David Clemones, but the injuries he sustained in a head-on collision proved too severe. Clemones, a student and football player at Armuchee High School, tragically lost his life in an accident that has left the community in mourning.

The crash occurred around 6:10 p.m. as Clemones was riding home from practice with two teammates. Their red Chevrolet pickup collided with a Dodge Ram during a left turn attempt at the intersection of Calhoun Road and Georgia Loop 1, transforming what should have been a routine ride home into a devastating tragedy.

The 16-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, whose identity remains protected due to his age, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a third passenger in the vehicle also sustained injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram, 56-year-old Matthew Mathis of Rome, was hospitalized for treatment as well. Floyd County investigators determined that the left turn by the Chevrolet was the cause of the collision, but no charges have been filed against the teenage driver at this time.

Friends and teammates remember Clemones as a bright, energetic presence. One teammate said he “always had a smile on his face” and brought enthusiasm to every practice. Coaches and classmates alike described him as someone who could lift spirits, both on and off the field.

The tragedy has shaken the Armuchee community deeply, as residents, students, and faculty come to terms with the loss of a young life full of promise. Vigils and memorials are being planned to honor Clemones’ memory and provide support for his grieving family, teammates, and friends.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to ensure a full understanding of the events leading to the accident. Meanwhile, the focus remains on supporting the families affected and promoting safe driving awareness among local teenagers.

Our hearts go out to the Clemones family, the injured passengers, and all members of the Armuchee community who are grappling with this heartbreaking loss.

  • Police Identify Victim and Suspect in Brutal Beheading at East Dallas Motel

Police Identify Victim and Suspect in Brutal Beheading at East Dallas Motel

DALLAS —A horrific and deeply disturbing crime unfolded in Dallas on Wednesday morning, when police responded to a stabbing call at a local motel and discovered a victim who had been decapitated. Authorities have now identified the victim as 50-year-old Chandra Nagamallaiah, and the suspect as 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who is in custody and has been charged with capital murder.

The violent incident occurred at the Downtown Suites Motel, located in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard, near Interstate 30 and the Tenison Park Golf Course in East Dallas. Just after 9:30 a.m., Dallas Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of a stabbing in progress. Responding officers, alongside Dallas Fire-Rescue, found Nagamallaiah fatally injured from repeated blows with a large edged weapon.

    Eyewitness Describes Gruesome Attack

Stephanie Elliott, a witness at the motel, told WFAA reporters that she watched the altercation escalate into one of the most shocking acts of violence she had ever seen. According to Elliott, an argument broke out between the victim and the suspect on the property before Cobos-Martinez allegedly pulled out a machete.

“He just kept hitting him and hitting until he decapitated him,” Elliott said. “I could not believe that anybody would do another human being that way. The victim tried to run, but he fell, and the suspect continued stabbing him.”

Audio recordings from Broadcastify, as well as police incident reports, corroborated her account. They describe officers responding to calls of a suspect armed with a machete and “cutting someone’s head off” at the scene.

    Swift Police Response

During a press conference, Dallas Police Executive Assistant Chief Terrence Rhodes emphasized that officers were already patrolling the area when the call came in. Their rapid response prevented further harm and led to the suspect’s immediate capture.

“Our officers were proactively patrolling the area and responded quickly to take the violent criminal into custody,” Rhodes said. “Even though the suspect was armed with a bladed weapon, the officers showed tremendous restraint and used minimal force to apprehend him. This violent crime will not go unpunished and our department will thoroughly investigate and bring charges against the suspect.”

    Heavy Police Presence

WFAA crews on scene reported dozens of police vehicles surrounding the motel, with the entrance completely blocked off by crime scene tape as detectives combed the property for evidence. Forensic teams were observed collecting the weapon believed to have been used in the attack, along with surveillance video from the motel.

Residents and guests at the motel expressed shock and fear, with many saying they had never witnessed violence of this scale before. “It’s terrifying to think this happened in broad daylight, right where people live and stay,” one motel resident told reporters.

    Ongoing Investigation

Authorities say Cobos-Martinez is now facing a capital murder charge, the most severe charge available under Texas law. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.

Detectives are working to determine the motive behind the attack. Police have not disclosed the nature of the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victim, though witnesses described it as an argument that escalated quickly and violently.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office has been briefed on the case and is expected to formally pursue charges in the coming days.

    Community Reeling from Violence

The brutal nature of the crime has rattled not only motel residents but also the broader Dallas community. Public safety officials are urging residents to remain vigilant but reassured the public that this appears to be an isolated incident.

“We know this kind of violence shakes our entire community,” Rhodes added. “But our officers acted decisively, and we have the suspect in custody. The community is safe.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and Dallas Police are asking anyone with additional information about the incident to contact their Homicide Unit.

Warrant Issued for Archie Hale in Fatal Hartselle Crash That Killed Juvenile Victim, Jayden Thompson

HARTSELLE, Ala. — On September 10, 2025, Traffic Homicide Investigators announced that a warrant has been obtained for Archie Hale, 40, of Hillsboro, charging him with Murder in connection with a deadly traffic crash that occurred on September 6, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. The crash claimed the life of Jayden Thompson, a juvenile victim whose death has shaken the Hartselle community.

According to investigators, Hale was behind the wheel of a vehicle that collided with another car traveling northbound on Highway 31. Surveillance video reviewed by authorities confirms that Hale entered the intersection from Highway 36 westbound at a very high rate of speed, despite the traffic light being red in his direction. Police said Hale’s decision to drive through the intersection demonstrated “extreme indifference to human life,” creating a grave risk of death and ultimately causing the fatal crash that killed Thompson.

Hale sustained serious injuries in the wreck and remains under medical care. Officers from the Hartselle Police Department are maintaining a presence at the medical facility and will take Hale into custody immediately upon his release. He will be held without bond on the murder charge.

In addition to the murder charge, Hale is also facing multiple charges through the Priceville Police Department, including:

    • Attempting to Elude
    • Possession with Intent
    • Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
    • Reckless Endangerment
    • Multiple traffic violations

Bond for those charges has been set at a total of $296,000.00.

Authorities emphasized that the case is far from closed. The investigation remains ongoing and extensive, as investigators continue to obtain and review medical records to assess the full scope of injuries sustained by other victims involved in the crash. Officials noted that additional charges are expected once those findings are confirmed.

Chief McDearmond of the Hartselle Police Department shared that he personally met with a representative of Jayden Thompson’s family before the warrant was formally obtained. “While nothing can fill the void left in this family,” McDearmond said, “we are committed to ensuring Hale faces these charges and that justice is pursued on behalf of this young man and his family.”

The tragedy has left the Hartselle community grieving the loss of Jayden Thompson, remembered by those who knew him as a bright and kind-hearted young man whose life was cut tragically short.

  • Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 23 Claims Life of Millbury Man Jacob T. Belsky

Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 23 Claims Life of Millbury Man Jacob T. Belsky

CRANE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Troopers from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2025, along U.S. Route 23 in Wyandot County, which claimed the life of Jacob T. Belsky, 29, of Millbury, Ohio. The crash also involved Temya Brown, 46, of Southfield, Michigan, who was driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia hauling a 2021 Great Dane Van Trailer.

According to investigators, the collision took place at approximately 2:03 p.m. in Crane Township when Jacob Belsky, driving a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, struck the rear of Temya Brown’s Freightliner Cascadia. Brown had slowed for traffic ahead when Belsky’s vehicle approached from behind.

Troopers say Belsky failed to maintain an assured clear distance and collided directly with the back of the trailer. The impact was severe, and despite the rapid response of emergency crews, Jacob Belsky was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash. Next-of-kin for Belsky have been notified of his passing.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol noted that multiple agencies assisted at the crash site, including the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Wyandot County EMS, the Upper Sandusky Fire Department, and Liverpool Towing. Crews worked for hours to secure the scene, redirect traffic, and remove the heavily damaged vehicles.

For local residents and drivers in the area, the incident caused temporary traffic delays along U.S. 23 as investigators documented evidence and cleared debris. Patrol officials stressed the importance of maintaining a safe following distance, particularly when traveling at highway speeds or in areas with heavy truck traffic.

The crash remains under active investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Officials have not released additional details regarding Temya Brown’s condition, but early reports indicate she was uninjured in the crash.

This marks another fatal crash on U.S. 23, a heavily traveled route in Wyandot County that has seen multiple serious collisions in recent years. The Highway Patrol continues to emphasize defensive driving and roadway awareness as critical components in preventing tragedies like this one.
