Investigation Underway
Traffic detectives remained on-site through the morning hours, collecting evidence, reviewing traffic camera footage, and interviewing witnesses. Authorities have not said whether speed, impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision.
The area near 27th Avenue and Thomas Road was closed for several hours as investigators worked, causing delays for early morning commuters.
Safety Concerns in the Area
The crash has renewed concerns over pedestrian safety in Phoenix, where busy intersections and high traffic volumes have contributed to a steady rise in pedestrian-involved collisions in recent years. City officials and safety advocates continue to encourage both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant, especially during low-visibility hours like early mornings and late nights.
