Police Appeal for Information Following Fatal Crash in Edinburgh

Road Policing officers in Edinburgh are seeking assistance from the public as they investigate a fatal crash that occurred late on Wednesday night, 3 September, 2025.

At approximately 10:05 p.m., police received reports of a single-vehicle collision on Crammond Road South involving a Vauxhall Corsa. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the 50-year-old male driver was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Confirming the incident, Sergeant Paul Ewing of Police Scotland expressed condolences to the victim’s loved ones, stating:
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died. This is a deeply distressing time for them, and we will continue to support them as our enquiries progress.”

Authorities have now launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash and are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to hear from individuals who may have been in the area around the time of the collision.

“As our enquiries continue, I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this crash to contact us,” Sgt. Ewing said. “I would also urge anyone who was in the area who has dash-cam or personal footage to please review it and get in touch if it holds anything which may be relevant.”

Police Scotland emphasized that community assistance plays a crucial role in piecing together the events leading up to the crash. By providing information, even seemingly minor details, members of the public can help investigators establish the full picture and bring clarity to the victim’s family.
