San Antonio Man Identified in Fatal Early Morning Crash on Moursund Boulevard

SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly single-vehicle crash early Monday morning as 30-year-old Oscar Davila.

San Antonio Police reported that the collision occurred just before 6 a.m. in the 200 block of Moursund Boulevard, near East Ashley Road. Preliminary findings indicate that Davila was driving a Dodge Durango at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a guardrail and a utility pole before crashing into a drainage ditch. The SUV subsequently caught fire.

Emergency crews responded quickly but were unable to save Davila, who was trapped inside the burning vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The wreckage caused temporary traffic disruptions as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and clear the area.

Authorities noted that speed appears to be a major factor in the crash, though investigators are also examining other potential contributing elements, including mechanical failure, road conditions, and whether Davila was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Neighbors along Moursund Boulevard expressed concern about roadway safety, highlighting that speeding is a frequent issue, particularly during early morning hours. Several residents called for additional traffic enforcement and safety measures along the stretch where the crash occurred.

The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Davila’s remains have been released to his family, who are now making funeral arrangements. SAPD continues to investigate the crash, reviewing surveillance footage from nearby cameras and seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

This tragic crash marks another traffic-related fatality in San Antonio and underscores the dangers of high-speed driving. Police are urging all motorists to exercise caution, obey speed limits, and stay alert to prevent further tragedies on local roadways.
