Yuma Man Michael Patrick Reiter Dies Following Late-Night Assault; Homicide Investigation Underway

YUMA, Ariz. — The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is investigating a fatal incident that occurred Friday night on the city’s south side, resulting in the death of Michael Patrick Reiter, 24, of Yuma.

Authorities say that at approximately 10:18 p.m. on September 5, 2025, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of S. Almond Avenue after reports of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, deputies found Reiter suffering from serious injuries.

Emergency Response and Hospitalization

Rural Metro personnel responded immediately to provide medical assistance. Reiter was initially transported to Onvida Health for assessment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later flown to a hospital in the Phoenix area. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries. His next of kin have been notified.

Investigation Launched

Following the incident, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau assumed responsibility for the case. At this stage, the incident is being treated as a homicide.

Sheriff’s officials have not released further details regarding suspects, possible motives, or the circumstances leading to Reiter’s injuries. Investigators are actively gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and reviewing the scene to determine what occurred.
